Youth Programming

Hill Library Youth Services aims to enrich the growth and education of each young reader who visits. Read below to learn more about our Story Time offerings, Library Club, and other Youth Events! 

Youth Programs

Storytime
Mondays at 10:00am

Join us at 10 am on Mondays! All ages welcome. There will be no Story Time on Monday, June 22 or Monday, July 13.

Music & Movement
Every other Thursday
at 10:00am

Let’s move and groove with songs, scarves, egg shakers, and our parachute! All ages welcome. Music and Movement will meets every other Thursday, alternating with Sensory Playtime.

Sensory Playtime
Every other Thursday
at 10:00am

Join us every other Thursday for some sensory play fun! We’ll have playdough, kinetic sand, pom-poms, and all sorts of other rotating activities. Practice fine motor skills and explore the world!

Story Time and Nature Play
with Four Winds Nature Institute
Monday, July 20
at 10am

Read “The Carrot Seed” by Ruth Krauss and do some fun fruit and vegetable dissection! All ages welcome, no registration needed. 

Children’s Garden Club
Tuesdays at 11:30am

Help us plant, weed, and more in the Community Garden! Tuesdays at 11:30am. All ages welcome, no registration needed.

Summer Reading Kick-Off
with Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals
Saturday, June 27th
at 1:30pm

Join us at 1:30pm on Saturday, June 27th for our Summer Reading Kick-Off! We’ll be passing out summer reading materials, checking out books, and playing with giant bubbles from 1:30pm-2pm, then watching a live performance of Lindsay and Her Puppets Pals at 2pm!

Tie Dye

DIY Veggie Squishies

Learn how to make a super cute slow rise squish with memory foam! This program is for youth entering grade 5 and up. No registration needed. 

Bug Safari with Susie Spikol

Nature Bots
For Youth Entering Grades 5+

Make creative robots with our electronics kit and natural materials! This program is for youth entering grade 5 and up. No registration needed. 

Dig into Dirt

at 2pm

Join us to explore dirt with the Soil Tent from the NH Globe program! We’ll be doing fun art and STEM projects to learn about the earth under our feet.  No registration needed. 

Farm Escape
For Youth Entering Grades 5+

Escape from the creepy farm by solving puzzles and finding clues! This program is for youth entering grade 5 and up. No registration needed. 

Learn About Lobsters

Kid Village in the Garden

Bird Houses with Mr. Bob

Cute Fruit Shrinky Dinks
For Youth Entering Grades 5+

Make adorable keychains, earrings, and more with shrinky dinks! This program is for youth entering grade 5 and up. No registration needed. 

Garden Fairy Tea Party
(Open Age)
Wednesday, August 5
at 2pm

Dress up in your best fairy costume and come enjoy a tea party in the Community Garden! We will make garden wands and potions and enjoy some tea time snacks. No registration needed, all ages welcome.

Live Action Ravine
For Youth Entering Grades 5+
Thursday, August 6
at 4:30pm

Can you survive the island? Join us for this live action version of our favorite survival game! Forage for gummy worms, avoid the moose, and build a shelter to stay in! New players are welcome. This program is for youth entering grade 5 and up. No registration needed. 

Farm Vehicle Touch-a-Truck
Saturday, August 8
at 1pm

Join us at the National Guard lot to see some great farm vehicles up close! No registration needed, all ages welcome. 

Library Club

Library Club is an after school enrichment program at Hill Library in Strafford. Grades 1 and 2 meet on Mondays, and Grades 3+ meet Wednesdays. Library staff will pick children up from school at dismissal and walk them up to the library for a story, snack, and special activities. Email cbeihl.hl@gmail.com to get on the email list and receive the sign up links.

 You do not need to have a library card to participate.
