National Unplugging Day is from sundown March 4 through sundown on March 5 this year.
Put your phone and tablet away. Turn off the TV.
Try some of these ideas instead:
- Read a book! You can find many choices at Hill Library.
- Take a walk outside. Look for animal tracks in the snow.
- Better yet, have a nature scavenger hunt in your neighborhood. (see below)
- Create art with your family: paint, draw, or make music together.
- Rearrange your bedroom. Or living room!
- Cook or bake using a cookbook (not the internet) for recipes. (Once again, we have plenty at the Hill Library.)
- Play a board game or cards.
- Start a gratitude jar by writing things you are grateful for on slips of paper to keep in the jar and read occasionally.
- Write a letter to a relative or friend.
- Give yourself – or each other- a manicure or pedicure.
- Exercise! Do calisthenics, go to a local class (we have yoga on March 5 at 9 am at Hill Library), jump rope, run, or dance.
- Take a nap.
- Make paper airplanes.
- Look through family photo albums or school yearbooks.
- Hold a family variety show featuring each member’s talents.
- Take a long, luxurious bath.
- Do a puzzle: jigsaw, crossword, or sudoku.
- Make a birdfeeder with a pine cone and peanut butter, or string popcorn for the birds.
- Play I Spy around your house.
- Read another book. Sure – why not?
