The NH Downloadable Books Consortium is a service of the NH State Library and 160 partner libraries.
This partnership offers both Audiobook and E-Book downloads that you can borrow for 7 or 14 days.
Audiobooks, available in WMA and MP3 formats, may be enjoyed on your phone, PC, or Mac.

On a computer
- Go to HillLibrary.org. Click on the Using the Library tab, then choose NH Downloadable Books from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the Sign In button on the upper right side. Choose Strafford-Hill Library as your library and enter your library card number, then click Sign In.
- To look for a specific book, click on search at the top of the page. (You can choose Advanced Search if you want to select your format or books that are available now – no waiting.)
- To browse, use Subjects or Collections tabs on the top left.
- Click on the book you want, then click Borrow and choose the time frame (you can borrow for 7 or 14 days).
- Click Download to get the book into your computer’s memory for playback.
On a phone
- Install the free Libby app from your phone’s app store.
- Once it is installed, open it and sign in with Strafford-Hill Library and your library card number.
- At the bottom, you will see two sections – Library and Shelf. When you touch Library, you can scroll down to browse books and magazines or use Search for a book at the top to find a particular book. When you touch Shelf, it will show you your personal account.
- When you find a book you would like, touch the image to get more information. To get a loan, touch A box will come up to show you how many items you have out or on hold. Check above the box to see if the loan period is correct (you can touch on the number of days to choose 7 or 14 days). Touch Borrow! at the bottom.
- Click Download to get the book into your phone’s memory for playback.
On a kindle
- Visit https://nh.overdrive.com/
- Find Strafford: Hill Library and choose it as your library
- Enter your library card number
- Find the e-books that you would like to borrow (up to three per library card)
- Select the black tab that says “Read with Kindle”
- It will bring you to Amazon (you will need to enter your Amazon user name and password)
- Amazon will ask you how you want the ebook to be delivered
